Who we are

In Kayes Liberté, Ahalou Faïdou Tidianiya (AFTI) brings believers together around a shared responsibility: to learn, help one another and preserve relationships of trust. Our association puts this commitment into practice in the everyday lives of families.

Rooted in the Tidjania tradition, AFTI combines teaching the Holy Quran with support within the local community. Men, women and children come together to learn, pass on knowledge and grow together.

Our work

Five commitments guide our association. Set out in our statutory objectives, they take shape through learning, listening and helping one another every day.

Teaching the Holy Quran

Provide religious education in the Holy Quran to men, women and children;

Quran classes support each generation, respecting everyone’s pace and encouraging the sharing of knowledge.

Standing together

Foster a spirit of solidarity and mutual assistance among Muslim believers in both happy and difficult events;

Celebrating together, checking on each other and being present in difficult times: mutual support begins with these everyday acts.

Gathering in faith

Organise Zihara gatherings and sermons throughout the city;

These gatherings nurture spiritual life and give believers opportunities to come together in Kayes.

Choosing dialogue

Seek amicable settlement of disputes between Muslims, and between Muslims and other people;

Listening to those involved and seeking agreement with discretion and respect helps preserve relationships within the community.

Continuing to learn

Improve the educational level of Muslim believers by initiating a series of training sessions.

Our training sessions encourage people to share knowledge. Taking part in workshops in Kayes also creates opportunities for young people to learn.

Community life

Fellowship also grows through the city’s gatherings. Our members take part in the cultural and civic life of Kayes, sharing knowledge and bringing people together.

Keeping our traditions alive

Cultural days offer opportunities to share skills and introduce traditions. Carved calabashes, fabrics and traditional dress spark conversations that recognise the contribution of women and the passing of knowledge between generations.

Taking part in the life of Kayes

Members take part in workshops on young people’s involvement in local governance. They also join events in the city, including the 5 October teachers’ day celebration and recognition ceremonies in Kayes.

These gatherings extend our commitment: learning from one another, recognising people’s work and maintaining the relationships that sustain community life.
